The Village of Palmetto Bay will conduct a hybrid Special Council Meeting on Monday, Mar. 11, to approve the final plat for the planned Veterans Park. The meeting will take place at the American Legion Post in Palmetto Bay, located at 16401 SW 90 Ave.
This meeting will be conducted using a teleconferencing platform and broadcast live.
Members of the public may attend the meeting in person or watch the meeting via the village’s official Facebook page and their Granicus web stream on www.palmettobay-fl.gov.
All persons are invited to appear and be heard. The documents pertaining to this Hearing may be inspected at the Department of Planning & Zoning at Village Hall, 9705 E Hibiscus St., during regular business hours.
“I am super excited that we are about to embark on the final phase of the process to acquiring the Veterans Park,” said Mayor Karyn Cunningham. “I have called a Special Council Meeting for Mar. 11 at 6:30 p.m. so that the council can vote on the final plat for the park. Once this is completed, South Motors will be able to transfer the deed to the Village.”
The purpose of the park is to promote patriotism and to honor United States Veterans and first responders. The park will be located north of SW 160th Street and SW 164th Street and east of S. Dixie Highway and west of SW 92nd Avenue.
“The significance of this is not lost on me, nor is it lost on our community’s veterans and teachers,” Mayor Cunningham said. “We are the ‘Village of Parks,’ and this will be the first acquisition of park space by the village in over 15 years. This park has special significance to me. Both my father and stepfather served in the Marines and Navy, respectively, and there are over 700 Veterans living in the village. This will be a place of reflection and education, and in my opinion, inspire generations for years to come.”
For persons wishing to participate virtually and provide public comment, refer to the options described as follows:
Public comments forum (Option 1): Prior to the meeting, the public can submit a web form available at this address: https://www.palmettobay-fl.gov/formcenter/public-comments-form-10/public-comments-form-52. Form submissions received before 5 p.m. the day of the meeting will be distributed to the members of the village council. Form submissions will remain part of the record.
Public comments forum (Option 2): Residents can review agenda item details and indicate their position on an agenda item using the e-comment feature under the agenda tab of the Village website. The e-comment feature may be used from any device. Residents will need to create an account and log into the system and from there, residents can leave comments on agenda items and read other comments.
Public comments forum (Option 3): Public attendees wishing to provide real-time, audible public comments during the meeting may do so using GoToWebinar’s desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone app. Once registered, attendees will receive GTW session information and call-in telephone numbers for those wishing to use a telephone.
