The Village of Palmetto Bay will be conducting a workshop on Thursday, June 23, to get public input for the design of the planned Veterans Park at SW 164th Street and 93rd Avenue.
Kimley-Horn and Associates, a planning and design consultant firm, has completed a preliminary design for the new park that is intended to “honor those who have selflessly fought for all of our freedoms” — military veterans, past and present.
Representatives of Kimley-Horn will be present at the workshop along with staff of the village’s Parks & Recreation Department. They will make a presentation showing features of the proposed plan and will welcome discussion and public input regarding features that village residents would like to see included in the park design.
The preliminary design features extensive natural landscaping, walkways, sculptures, historical displays and an amphitheater.
Palmetto Bay Mayor Karyn Cunningham is urging resident participation in the planning session.
“We want to invite the community to come out for the upcoming public workshop on designing our newest park acquisition, Veterans’ Park,” Mayor Cunningham said. “Kimley-Horn’s team will present the current design concept and give the community an opportunity to provide input.
“The best concepts are born out of collaborative thinking, and we want to know what your vision is for our newest park to honor those who have served this country, by providing your comments and input,” the mayor added.
The public workshop will take place 6 p.m. at Village Hall, 9705 East Hibiscus St. For information call 305-259-1234.
