The Village of Palmetto Bay again is hosting its annual Spring Recycling Drive-Thru event for village residents and businesses on Saturday, Apr. 27.
This is an opportunity to safely dispose of old electronics such as computers, TVs and printers along with household hazardous waste including light bulbs, batteries, paint and gasoline. They also will take paper items and shred sensitive documents. You can even drop off used clothing.
Andrea Candelaria, sustainability and resiliency planner for the Community & Economic Development Department, wants to continue growing the turnout for the event.
“The Village has been hosting these Recycling Drive-Thru events for more than two years now,” Candelaria said. “Our first Spring Recycling Drive-Thru event took place in April 2022 and due to resident popularity, we now host it twice a year, in the spring and fall. For our Fall Recycling Drive-Thru in November 2023, we had more than 20 volunteers come and help unload items from residents’ cars and assist in the traffic coordination. We are hoping we receive more volunteers and participants for our April Drive.”
The Recycling Drive-Thru will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot at Village Hall, 9705 E. Hibiscus St. It is open only to village residents and businesses, so be prepared to show proof of residency with your driver’s license.
Used clothing should be “gently used.”
• The event will open promptly at 10 a.m. and close at 1 p.m.
• Attendees will not be allowed to start lining up for the event prior to 10 a.m.
• Please note: Items will not be accepted before 10 a.m. or after 1 p.m. on the day of the event.
• All participants must enter the event through the Hibiscus entrance coming from the west. They will not be allowed to enter through the Franjo Road entrance.
• Pull up in your vehicle and staff will be on hand to help unload your items.
• Please follow the directions of the map.
