Village’s Camping in the Park & Movie Night returns in Feb.

The Village of Palmetto Bay’s Camping in the Park & Movie Night returns on Saturday, Feb. 4, 11 a.m., and continues through Sunday, Feb. 5, 10 a.m., at Coral Reef Park. Those interested in participating are advised to register as early as possible because space is limited.

Designed for outdoor and camping enthusiasts, the second annual Camping in the Park & Movie Night features fun and interactive activities throughout the day on Saturday, including a night hike, kayak adventures, animal encounter, telescope stargazing, campfire and two feature films — Empire of the Sun with a live presentation by film director Rickard Kern, followed by Night of the Museum-Secret of the Tomb.

The cost is $5 per tent for overnight campers only. Those not interested in camping will not be required to register and may still participate in all the scheduled activities and movies. There will be a designated area for blankets and chairs for those not staying overnight. Online registration is now open and mandatory for all overnight campers. Visit the village’s website at www.palmettobay-fl.gov/ for a listing of all scheduled activities, site map, and most importantly, the Camp Night Rules and Regulations. Registration closes on Thursday, Feb. 2, but spaces may be filled before then. Onsite registration will not be available.

“Remember to bring your s’mores, tent and camping gear and prepare for a weekend of non-stop excitement and activities at Coral Reef Park,” said Saylin Paez, village events and programs coordinator. “Don’t have a tent or camping gear — no worries; we have you covered.”

Nature Postings Inc. is offering a camping rental package for $45 to include: One three-person tent, a lantern, mini fans, fire pit and s’mores. Rental packages are available while supplies last. For reservations, visit the website at www.naturepostings.com. Food trucks also will be available onsite throughout the evening selling food and beverages.

“We look forward to making this unique community event all about great, outdoor fun and adventure, while making lifetime memories with your family, friends and neighbors,” Paez said.
