The Village of Palmetto Bay and Palmer Trinity School are joining once again to host a special Veteran’s Day Breakfast on Thursday, Nov. 9, to honor those who have served our country’s armed forces.
The breakfast will take place from 7:45 to 10 a.m. in the Palmer Trinity School gymnasium, 8001 SW 184 St. in Palmetto Bay. Veterans are welcome to attend and “enjoy a special assembly, breakfast and camaraderie with fellow veterans.”
Guest Speaker for the breakfast is Air Force Lt. Col. Scott D. Lofman (Retired). Lofman served as a USAF pilot and retired in 2002 as a lieutenant colonel with more than 22 years of active and reserve duty.
He also has more than 37 years of commercial airline experience, having logged more than 22,000 flying hours with National, Pan American and United, and flew six different types of aircraft ranging from the Boeing 727 to the 777. He retired in 2015 from the “Friendly Skies” as an Airbus A-320 captain. He spent the last 10 years of his career as a Federal Flight Deck Officer (armed pilot).
Also speaking will be Nicholas F. Marano, Palmetto Bay village manager and a retired colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps. Marano served as commanding officer of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in San Diego, CA.
Marano served in the Marine Corps for more than 27 years of active duty. He led large units in combat operations and did four combat tours to Iraq from 2002 to 2007. He was First Marine Expeditionary Force senior watch officer in Operation Iraqi Freedom I and was the operations officer for Operation Iraqi Freedom II. He subsequently assumed command as the Battalion Commander of 1st BN, 7th Marines. He has been awarded four Bronze Stars.
