Dranoff 2 Piano Fusion presents Aglika Genova and Liuben Dimitrov in
“The Monet of Music” featuring classics by Debussy, Borodin, and Reinecke.
Classical music aficionados will be enthralled by married couple and piano duo Genova & Dimitrov when they fill the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center with their stunning program, The Monet of Music, presented by Dranoff 2 Piano Fusion on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, at 4 p.m.
“Aglika Genova and Liuben Dimitrov won the Dranoff International 2 Piano competition in 1997 and have been a part of the Dranoff family ever since,” said Executive Director Emily Cardenas. “We’ve presented them several times over the years, and we’re thrilled to be their first stop on a North American tour to celebrate their 30th anniversary as a duo.”
The Bulgarian couple who makes Germany their home will perform in Aventura on the heels of releasing the last in a trilogy of recordings titled Claude Debussy: Complete Works for Piano Duo. Prior to that they recorded the triple album Carl Reinecke: Complete Works for 2 Pianos which climbed to the top of the classical music charts in one week.
For Dranoff’s annual Classical Classics concert, their program will feature works by master French composer Claude Debussy like Deux Danses / Two Dances and Trois Nocturnes, arranged for two pianos by Maurice Ravel. They will also perform Carl Reinecke’s Bilder aus Süden, Vier Fantasiestücke / Pictures from the South, Four Fantasy Pieces. Adding to the brilliance of this program are Ravel’s Rapsodie espagnole and Polovtsian Dances from the opera Prince Igor composed by Alexander Borodin and arranged for two pianos by Victor Babin.
The concert is named The Monet of Music to recognize Debussy’s influence on modern classical music as a prominent Impressionist, similar to the artists of his era. While Claude Monet is often seen as a key Impressionist painter, Debussy’s music also evokes a dreamy quality reminiscent of the moods found in Monet’s artwork. Both artists were known for their ability to convey mood and atmosphere that played with light and color to create a sense of movement and depth.
Although not an impressionist composer, Carl Reinecke is known for his contributions to the Romantic and Classical music traditions of the mid-19th century.
One of the world’s most sought-after piano duos, Genova & Dimitrov have performed in many of the great concert halls of Europe, North and South America, Asia, and Africa. Their considerable discography of nearly 20 CDs includes numerous world premiere recordings, such as the Concerto by Victor Babin, and complete piano duo works by Dimitri Shostakovich, Johann Christian Bach, Muzio Clementi and Pantcho Vladigerov. The duo’s recordings of 11 concertos with orchestra have also caused worldwide sensation. The albums with works by Gershwin, Copland, Bernstein, Ravel, Arensky and Liszt enjoy great popularity in the music world.
Tickets range from $45-$65 and are available for purchase at dranoff2pianofusion.org and AventuraCenter.org.
Aventura Arts & Cultural Center is located at 3385 NE 188th Street in Aventura.
