Whatever the outcome, be thankful election is over

Whatever the outcome, be thankful election is overMore than likely, the election will be over by the time you read this column.

If nothing else, we all should be thankful that we will not be receiving any more of those terribly annoying phone calls. Don’t those folks realize what a negative effect they have when your phone rings in the middle of dinner and an automated device begins rattling off all kinds of stuff that you have heard 1,000 times before?

I feel fairly confident in my assumption that the new president of the United States will be one Hillary Clinton. If I am wrong, it is because I have written this before the election results were released and have known to be wrong on a rare occasion.

Actually, I was a Trump supporter at the very beginning because I thought that he, like myself, told it like it is, said what was on his mind and went forward. The only real problem is, what was actually on his mind. Gee jiminy…how could that man really have expected an entire nation of thinking people to buy into his nonsense? Unfortunately, I have many friends who are right-wing, Republican, Second Amendment advocates, and all the other stuff, and for them I truly feel sorry. If I am wrong with this article, I know that they will feel sorry for me as well.

Of course, Hillary had her downside as well and to this day I have been unable to figure out exactly what it is that she did in Benghazi. Her opponents would make it sound as though she were over there shooting our own soldiers with weapons that she somehow got from ISIS. Based on that research, I would have to say that President George W. Bush was totally at fault for 9/11.

I also have heard a lot about her emails. No one has yet shown me what possibly could be in those emails that would be so damaging to our country that she could be dismissed as a presidential candidate. Once you have this information please send it to me, but bear in mind that practically every living soul has their own email accounts for whatever reason — confidentiality or a torrid sex life, whatever.

I would like to ask in advance to any woman that might to be sitting next to me in an airplane to not become too alarmed when I slip my hand up her dress. All I am actually doing is planning for my future presidency and, from what I can read, that seems to be one of the ways of approaching this high office.

My overall view of this past election is that it is the worst that I can imagine since I first became aware of our election system. It seems that a tremendous amount of effort was being placed on denigrating and insulting the opposition with very little being said about what the candidates themselves would like to accomplish to make this a better country.

Actually it’s not too bad a place to begin with, and there certainly is room for improvement, but not to the point that some of these folks on TV would have you believe. Remember, I am writing this well before the actual day of election and have made a lot of assumptions that I hope are correct, but who knows? I have been wrong before; I simply don’t remember when.

There was one positive result to the election. Cannabis may now be offered to relieve the pain and discomfort that many people suffer from through no fault of their own. It also will eliminate a lot of law enforcement personnel and courtroom people from wasting time and money while they could be going after the gang bangers, robbers, murderers, etc.

As most of you know, I have just completed my 10 years on the governing town council in Cutler Bay and due to term limits will not be able to run again for another two years. Of course they tell me that the new 83 is 80 and based on that I may still be young enough to become mayor, vice mayor, or who knows what. Of course, someone will have to deal with my spouse who has ideas of her own and anyone who knows her personally knows that those ideas remain dominant in the Sochin family.
See you in 2020!
