Children, ages 6-14, will explore and learn from nature at Deering Estate’s Winter Camp! Two, four-day sessions are available. Session one will take place from December 26 to 29, 2023 and Session two will run from January 2 to 5, 2024, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. A one day mini-camp will be offered on Friday, December 22.
Session I: “Trail Blazers”
Monday – Friday, December 26-29, 2023
Campers will get in touch with their inner trail blazer by trekking and exploring through Deering Estate’s Natural Areas. They will learn how to survive in the unique habitats and about the important conservation efforts for preserving biodiversity.
Session II: “Adventure Awaits”
Monday – Friday, January 2-5, 2024
Campers will channel their inner Indiana Jones as they uncover the mysteries of the Deering Estate and its past. Activities include dissections, archeological explorations, a hike to the Deering Cliffs, science experiments and more!

Deering Estate, located at 16701 SW 72 Ave. in Miami, is a 21st Century house museum, cultural and ecological field station, and a national landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places, owned by the State of Florida and managed by Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department. Deering Estate is designated as one of seven Miami-Dade County “Heritage Parks” which have a vital role in our community’s history, environment and in providing recreational and cultural experiences.
