RMHC South Florida Awards $50,000 to Nonprofits Improving the Lives of Local Families

Ronald McDonald House Charities® of South Florida (RMHC South Florida) is thrilled to announce the recipients of its 2024 Grant Program. This year, six dedicated organizations were awarded $50,000 to support vital initiatives that enhance the lives of children and families in South Florida.

RMHC South Florida provides lodging, meals, and a community of care to critically ill children and their families and has granted over $4.9 million to local non-profits since 1988. The grants promote health, education, and overall well-being for families in need.

The 2024 grant recipients and their awarded programs are as follows:

David Posnack Jewish Community Center – Sunrise on Wheels Program

  • Awarded: $10,000
  • This program provides activities and fun to children undergoing treatment in the pediatric oncology units.

Hispanic Unity of Florida – Unity 4Kids Program

  • Awarded: $5,000
  • This program provides children of low-income families with early literacy and school readiness services.

ICU Baby’s NICU – Parent Mentor Program

  • Awarded: $10,000
  • This program offers support and guidance for parents of infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), helping families navigate their challenging journeys.

Marian Center – Children with Disabilities

  • Awarded: $10,000
  • This program is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for children with disabilities by providing educational resources tailored to their unique needs.

Spirit of Giving Network – Resource Children Program

  • Awarded: $10,000
  • This program provides resources and services to children and families in Palm Beach County.

Sweet Dream Maker – A Bed of My Own Program

  • Awarded: $5,000
  • This program provides children and parents with safe, clean beds and bedding at no cost.

“We are proud to support these incredible organizations that are making a significant impact on the lives of children and families throughout South Florida,” said Soraya Rivera-Moya, Executive Director of RMHC South Florida. “Each grant recipient embodies our mission to create a supportive environment for families during challenging times, and we are excited to contribute to their important work.”

The funding for these grants is generated entirely through donation box collections at McDonald’s restaurants throughout South Florida, supplemented by matching funds from the global RMHC organization. These awarded funds will enable the recipient organizations to continue their vital efforts and expand their impact, ensuring that more families receive the support they deserve.
