Voices Against Brain Cancer is set to host its inaugural Join The Voices! Miami Run/Walk at Tropical Park, 7900 SW 40 St., on Sunday, Mar. 8, at 8:30 a.m.
Dedicated to creating greater national awareness and ultimately finding a cure, the charitable event will offer ways for the whole family to get involved, including a 5K run, a 3K walk and kid’s races.
Miami-resident Mario Lichtenstein founded Voices Against Brain Cancer, a non-profit organization working to build awareness and find a cure for brain cancer, and is expanding the organization’s reach to the Magic City. Each year more than 200,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor.
Funds raised will go towards the advancement of research and support, signaling greater hope for those impacted by brain cancer. All donations made will be earmarked for select institutions and programs in the Miami area and throughout Florida.
Cost: Adult walker or runner, $25; child (12 and under), $10.
Voices Against Brain Cancer’s mission is to find a cure for brain cancer and brain tumors by advancing scientific research, increasing awareness within the medical community and supporting patients, their families and caregivers afflicted with this devastating disease.
