The City of Homestead’s annual Fourth of July celebration, “Race to the 4th,” will be hosted for its fourth year at the Homestead-Miami Speedway on Thursday, July 4th, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.The event will feature family entertainment, live music, children’s rides, food and drinks, games and a magnificent Independence Day fireworks display.

Admission to the “Race to the 4th” is FREE, with the display and vendor area located outside of the grandstands. Guests will be treated to music from two live rock and roll bands—“Head First” and “Main Highway.”  Viewing of the fireworks show at 9 p.m. will be from the very same grandstands where, this fall, Homestead-Miami Speedway will host the biggest names in NASCAR.
Homestead Councilwoman Judy Waldman, Chairwoman to the Parks and Recreation Department, who has spearheaded this event along with the Parks & Recreations Department and the Homestead-Miami Speedway, said the Fourth of July Homestead celebration is one of the City’s most important community events and the biggest in Dade County.
“Last year we had over 12,000 people share our nation’s birthday with us, and it was the most moving experience as a reminder of our freedom and those who have fought for it under the amazing light of the fireworks,” said Councilwoman Waldman. “I have been attending the Fourth of July Homestead Celebration since I was a little girl, and it just grows bigger and better every year.  We spend many hours preparing for this event to ensure there will be lots of entertainment, and I am excited to be sharing this holiday with our residents.”
Homestead-Miami Speedway President Matthew Becherer said he was looking forward to once again celebrating the holiday with the Speedway’s community. “It’s a pleasure to host “Race to the Fourth” at Homestead-Miami Speedway for what has become a great community tradition. It remains a great family event and a fantastic venue to celebrate Independence Day.”
