News from the South Florida Trail Riders!
This year, Santa and Mrs. Claus were brought into town by our biggest group of South Dade “reindeer” yet! We had 13 beautiful horses attending, including 4 miniatures, and our ground crew of elves totaled 30! Thank you to everyone who came and represented the SFTR with such festive cheer!
Everyone arrived at the meeting spot with plenty of time to get horses groomed, decked out in their reindeer gear and don their own elf attire. We had a last minute notification from the parade coordinator, but everyone was very understanding and was able to arrange themselves to accommodate… that being said, we got to follow a high school marching band in the parade!
The parade itself went very smoothly and everyone that came to watch loved our reindeer! David Ruiz and Carol Tirado held the club banner, leading our horses, and keeping a good distance between us and the band! After the parade, we held a short meet and greet for the kids attending. It’s such a wonderful thing to see a child’s eyes light up when they get to touch a horse for the first time!
Homestead Main Street, the event producers, also let us setup a toy collection box next to Mr. and Mrs. Claus’ chairs. We collected about 10 toys at the event this year! Thank you to Dougie at Thunder Country (100.3FM) for announcing the toy drive collection point on the radio for the event.
I hope everyone had as good of a time as I did and that they can spread the word for next year! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
