Commissioner Souto’s proposal to amend the Fee Schedule for the Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department to create a Military Discount Fee was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners within the County’s annual budget last week. The Parks Department previously offered Military discounts which included 25% on golf course, with the exemption of Crandon Park Golf Course, 25% off admission to Zoo Miami, and Military personnel stationed in Miami-Dade County were a allowed to purchase resident annual parking permits.
The new Military discounts to active duty and veterans with service-connected disabilities (wounded warriors) will now include Free Parking at all parks facilities that charge a parking fee; a golf discount of 50% on weekdays and 25% on
weekends, with the exemption of Crandon Park Golf Course; and 50% discount on Zoo Miami Admission. This is a small token of appreciation for our military.
