Adventure is calling this summer as Dade Heritage Trust heads south on its “Roll (to) The Dice House in Continental Park,” bike tour on July 14.

Built in 1917, The Dice House is the oldest pioneer home in the Kendall area of Miami-Dade County and one of its hidden urban treasures. The wooden frame house originally belonged to pioneer David Brandly Dice and was designated as a historic site in 1989.

Dade Heritage trust saved the house from demolition in 2005, and was instrumental in having it relocated in Kendall from SW 77th Avenue to its current home at Continental Park, 10000 SW 82 Ave.
But don’t worry — riders will have a little help getting there.

“We’ll meet at DHT, before riding to and boarding the Metrorail at Brickell Station with our bikes for a ride to the Dadeland South Station,” said Chris Rupp, Dade Heritage Trust executive director.

She added that it’s a joy to be able to share little known historic preservation success story.

“From there, we head south on the Busway Bike Trail to the Dice House — you explore a piece of Miami’s history,” Rupp said.

The “Roll (to) The Dice House in Continental Park,” bike tour ride will start at 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 14, at Dade Heritage Trust, 190 SE 12 Terr. in Miami. Tickets are $5 for DHT members and $10 for non-members, and are available at https://dadeheritagetrust.org/event/roll-to-the-dice-house-in-continental-park-bike-tour/.

Ride leaders will provide safety guidelines as cyclists make their way through the tour.

Dade Heritage Trust does not provide bikes, so riders must bring their own bikes or rent a Citi Bike nearby. In addition, for this tour riders must be experienced and confident enough to navigate urban Miami streets.

Dade Heritage Trust invites you to join this tour and its other themed bike rides on the second Sunday of each month. To learn more about Dade Heritage Trust call 305-358-9572 or visit dadeheritagetrust.org.

  1. The Dice House is a treasure! So glad you are sharing with the community at large. A beautiful space for a small meeting or a small celebration. Not a another place like it in Miami-Dade County. hbw
