FirstBank Florida recently reaffirmed its commitment to community outreach programs by organizing a Holiday toy drive for the children and families of University Lakes Mobile Home Park. In just two weeks, and with the help of FirstBank Florida’s 10 branches, hundreds of toys were collected for children ages one to twelve.

“Our commitment to the communities and customers we serve is what makes FirstBank an integral part of South Florida. The holidays are a time of joy and a very special one in the lives of all children, and we wanted to make this holiday season a memorable one for the children of University Lakes Mobile Home Park,” said Calixto García-Vélez, Florida Region Executive.

Of the toys collected, approximately a 100 of them were handed out to families in University Lakes Mobile Home Park, while the remaining toys were donated to Toys for Tots, which held a special donation event at the Bird Bowl Bowling Center on Bird Road. An alliance was formed with West Dade Community Services to make FirstBank Florida’s fourth consecutive toy drive a complete success.

“I’d like to thank all of our employees and partners, including our friends at Radio El Zol, Radio Amor and Toys for Tots, for making this toy drive possible. Making a difference in the lives of others is what the Holiday Season is all about,” added García-Vélez.

On the corporate side, FirstBank organized its first large scale toy drive in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, in which over 3,000 toys were collected and donated to several non-profit organizations dedicated to the well-being and education of underprivileged children.
