Kendall Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that on November 7th, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) granted initial approval to begin the hospital’s first residency training program for General Surgery. The General Surgery Residency program will begin training residents in July 2014 and will open an initial 16 surgical training positions for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year candidates. A total of 24 residents are planned for the program. The Surgery Residency will be led by Mark G. McKenney, M.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.S., who has over 20 years of experience of teaching and training physicians.
Kendall Regional Medical Center also received initial institutional approval by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education as of July 1, 2013, which completes the lengthy process for accreditation as a training facility. Institutional accreditation allows Kendall Regional Medical Center to establish additional residencies in multiple specialties. “I am excited as we start to progress as a teaching institution and also look forward to the accreditation of our new Internal Medicine residency program in January 2014” said Scott A.
