Miami-Dade Police West District Det. Jason Marshall, getting a hug from his wife, holds an Officer of the Month citation awarded on June 29 at Citizens Advisory Committee meeting. On June 7, Det. Marshall spotted a suspect abandoning a U-Haul truck leading to discovery of $17,000 in checks recovered from a stolen safe. The detective’s work eventually uncovered a ring of commercial safe thefts throughout Miami-Dade that netted thieves over a half million in stolen cash and checks. The award recognized Marshall for his “keen awareness and professionalism” in helping solve a series of 12 recent burglaries at check cashing stores.
