2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV opens the road

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Starting at $40,000, the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is a great drive.

It’s a plug-in hybrid, bringing the Outlander to a category that is an essential evolution to the SUV.

The all-new 2023 Outlander delivers enhanced performance and smooth handling with distinctive Mitsubishi style. Boasting a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine, available S-AWC, and features like Eco Mode, this seven-seater SUV is the kind of ride that’s stylish, powerful and fun to drive.

Its total range in hybrid mode is 420 miles. On only electric, you can travel 38 miles.

For easy commutes or quick trips to the grocery store or the gym, save on gas with 100 percent electric, zero-emission driving. In EV mode, power comes from the twin electric motors and energy is sourced exclusively from the lithium-ion battery pack.

Using a DC fast charger, you can almost fully charge within 40 minutes. Mitsubishi offers information on the DC fast charging stations so you can find them easily.

The 2023 Outlander PHEV also uses regenerative braking that converts kinetic energy into electricity that charges the battery. This system activates automatically when your foot is off the accelerator and can be manually controlled using the steering-mounted paddle shifters.

One of the things I found really interesting is the augmented reality technology that is incorporated into the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander app. The Mitsubishi “MiVision Augmented Reality” (AR) App is an immersive way to experience Mitsubishi’s family of vehicles — anytime, anywhere! Simply drop a virtual Mitsubishi vehicle right into your own real-world environment and you can explore the Outlander’s design, features and technologies like never before. As you explore, you’ll find feature descriptions that help you discover more about the Mitsubishi vehicle you’re experiencing. That is pretty amazing because often you buy a new car and have no idea in the practical world what different things do, missing out on everything new that is built into the vehicle.

With limited quantities available, the 40th Anniversary Special Edition is a high-grade, premium package of the 2023 Outlander PHEV. In this version, you get all the elevated features, like the semi-aniline premium leather, massage function front seats, and Bose premium audio with nine speakers. Then take it to the next level with exclusive anniversary badging, a unique two-tone black diamond and bronze finish and refined details like an illuminated console tray.

The 2023 Outlander PHEV boasts an available nine-inch center display that features a wide range of interactive options, like navigation and cabin temperature controls, as well as music and entertainment to make every road trip a joy. You also can enjoy integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can make and receive texts and phone calls while keeping your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road.

The power of the 2023 Outlander PHEV is the thing that got my attention. It is smooth and rides like a dream. Give it a shot and tell me what you think.
