2024 Equinox EV is a clear winner in electric car race

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

To EV or not to EV, that is the question.

“Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer, The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And by opposing end them?”

For Hamlet, life was full of tough choices. But he would have had an easy time choosing to drive an EV after driving the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox. I was fortunate to drive the all-electric 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV 2LT, which starts at $42,000.

The Equinox EV strikes an impressive balance between effortless technology, distinctive design, performance and affordability that puts electric driving excitement within reach.

The 2024 Equinox EV is a great looking car inside and out and I enjoyed driving it.

The base model has front-wheel drive with one electric motor that produces 213 horsepower. You also can get an all-wheel-drive version with two motors, boosting the power to 288 horsepower.

This SUV has a 319-mile range and can run for about 70 miles of range after connecting for 10 minutes on a DC fast public charging system. It delivers great performance that offers lots of savings.

The technology is a key component of the new Equinox. The 11-inch diagonal driver information screen comes standard and provides the most important information in a simple format. Next to it is a 17.7-inch diagonal advanced color LCD display with built-in Google compatibility that is sharp and offers a streamlined interface to launch all the most useful features. It feeds into a six-speaker audio system that sounds great.

The cabin has two tones, with a choice between black with blue accents and sky cool gray with blue accents. A roomy, no-compromises interior features ample cargo room and convenient storage solutions. You also get customizable ambient lighting, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. All of this combines for a great feeling when you get behind the wheel of the Equinox EV.

On the outside, the Chevy Equinox sparkles. I love the body paint choices that include riptide blue metallic to iridescent pearl tricoat to black and even galaxy gray metallic. The 21-inch aluminum wheels work very well with all the colors, making it the ultimate accessory.

Sleek lines and a clean, muscular exterior design gives way to modern touches like flush door handles, an available two-tone roof and available front and rear lighting animations that round out this seriously stylish package.

The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV 2LT was a fun ride and a great driving experience. Give it a spin and tell me what you think.
