Miami-Dade Police Det. Olenka Ryan received honors as Officer of the Month for Hammocks District for her investigative skills leading to the recovery of $50,000 in keratin hair products stolen from a business at 14261 SW 120 St.
From an anonymous source knowledgeable about the burglary, Det. Ryan secured identities of two suspects, and then organized a special team, which put the suspects under day-to-day surveillance.
Spotted loading the products into a car, the pair were followed and arrested for a traffic infraction. Both later gave full confessions when confronted with theft details, then turning over an additional $10,000 worth of similar products that had been stored at a residence.
Det. Ryan was commended for her services at the Hammocks District Citizens Advisory Committee meeting on Feb. 27 by Acting Maj. Miguel A. Hernandez and CAC chair James Blough.
