Education nonprofit Achieve Miami has officially launched Achieve SPARK (Succeeding with Purpose, Athletics, Reading and Kindness), a dynamic reimagining of its flagship Achieve Saturdays program.
Building on a decade of impact, Achieve SPARK introduces expanded programming, new school sites, and an exciting partnership with FIFA that will bring soccer-related learning opportunities to Miami-Dade students.
The bi-weekly program pairs elementary students (Little Buddies) with high school volunteers (Big Buddies) to foster literacy, leadership, and confidence through hands-on activities, tutoring, and mentorship. With the addition of sports and wellness programming, themed activities, and an emphasis on healthy living, Achieve SPARK provides a holistic approach to academic, social, and physical development.
Beginning this fall, Achieve SPARK is taking place at five Miami-Dade County schools: Arcola Lake Elementary, Brentwood Elementary, Caribbean K-8 Center, Goulds Elementary, and Riverside Elementary.
The program’s transformation is supported by FIFA through the FIFA World Football Remission Fund, an initiative that helps expand Achieve Miami’s goal of bridging educational gaps while promoting learning experiences centered on wellness, teamwork, and sports. The collaboration comes months after FIFA officially opened its Miami offices and reflects the organization’s commitment to supporting educational initiatives in the city.
“Achieve SPARK is about more than academics, it’s about inspiring confidence, building relationships, and giving students opportunities to thrive,” said Leslie Miller Saiontz, founder and president of Achieve Miami. “Through mentorship, enrichment, and athletics, we are creating a space where students can grow their skills, discover new passions, and feel supported every step of the way.”
Through Achieve SPARK, students will benefit from tutoring support, healthy meals, and wellness education, while enjoying engaging themes such as a Minecraft Day, Welcome to Hogwarts, and celebrating Achieve Miami upcoming 10’s anniversary with a special birthday party.
At the end of the school year, they will take part in a World Cup-themed soccer tournament involving all five school sites. Each student also will receive books for his/her home libraries and a branded Achieve Miami x FIFA backpack to celebrate the program’s launch.
Since its founding, Achieve Miami has served more than 15,000 students through weekend, summer, and year-round enrichment programs. By connecting students, educators, and community partners, the nonprofit breaks down barriers to educational equity and delivers transformative learning experiences. Additional programs, including Achieve Scholars and Achieve Music, provide academic and extracurricular support to students from diverse backgrounds.
