The Alhambra Orchestra, led by artistic director Daniel Andai, presents an unforgettable celebration of great American musical compositions on Sunday, June 2, 7:30 p.m., in the Wertheim Performing Arts Center, 10910 SW 17 St., on the FIU campus. Admission is free and no tickets are needed.
The program includes excerpts from Bernstein’s West Side Story, Grofe’s Grand Canyon Suite, Copland’s Hoedown and Fanfare for the Common Man, and John Williams’Jurassic Park score.
Additionally, pianist Mia Vassilev will be featured in Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue on the 100th anniversary of this work’s debut, and local arts advocate Mark Hart will narrate Copland’s thrilling Lincoln Portrait.
The Alhambra Orchestra is Miami’s community orchestra, with a mission of giving everyone access to great classical music.
