Alina Garcia announces run for Florida House Dist. 115
Alina Garcia

Longtime Miami resident and experienced public servant Alina Garcia has set her sights on being elected to District 115 of the Florida House of Representatives, currently held by Rep. Vance Aloupis Jr. (R), who has announced he will not seek a third term.

District 115 includes Kendall, Westchester, Palmetto Bay, The Falls, Pinecrest and Cutler Bay. The Republican primary will be held on Aug. 23.

“I am running because I am committed to protecting our American values,” Garcia said.

“We must work to solidify the progress made by Governor DeSantis and the Republican Legislature on critical issues like education, abortion, immigration, parental rights and lower taxes, amongst many others.”

A small business owner who epitomizes the American Dream, Garcia and her parents fled Communist Cuba, arriving in the United States penniless. After years of hard work, the family was able to buy a home and launch a small business. After graduating from Miami Senior High School and attending Miami Dade Community College, Garcia raised a family as a single mother of three. Today, she is the matriarch of a family that includes 11 grandchildren.

Over the past 30 years, Garcia has been active in public service at every level, having served under U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, Hialeah Mayor Esteban Bovo, Miami Commissioner Joe Carollo, Florida’s Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis and many others.

“I am especially proud to have served as U.S. Sen. Rubio’s first legislative aide when he was elected to the Florida House of Representatives,” she said. “In my many professional roles, I have assisted in efforts to balance state and local government budgets and fight on behalf of our community’s taxpayers and working families.”
