AMG GT 4-door Coupe gives you power and style

What you get for the $99,950 you are paying for the Mercedes Benz AMG GT 53 4-door Coupe is power and style.

With a fastback profile and frameless side glass, the AMG GT 4-door coupe combines the sleek styling of a sports car with the design details that still communicate it’s a luxury vehicle.

The deep front apron features large air intakes. Flared side sills bridge the wheel arches and the rear valance outlines the four round tailpipes and black central diffuser insert.

It also has the specific hallmarks of the AMG brand including the vertical-bar grille, aggressive front apron and long, twin-power-dome hood. This all comes together at the rear power lift-gate and spoiler, which make the car’s wide, flared rear modeling more of a standout.

Here is some history that adds to the depth of the styling: Its vertical chrome bars are drawn from the AMG GT3 racecar, and is a callback to the legendary 300SL that won the Panamericana road race in 1952. That level of history adds to the authenticity of the styling and the feel you get from looking at this amazing machine.

The 2021 model is stocked with a 429 horsepower engine that produces 384 pound-feet of torque. It comes in 10 colors, with Selenite Grey Magno being my favorite. It looks sleek as it accelerates to 60 miles per hour in 4.4 seconds, on the 3.0L inline-6 turbo with EQ Boost and an electric auxiliary compressor. It also comes standard with Mercedes-Benz’s 4MATIC all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission.

With all that speed you might expect low fuel efficiency, but Mercedes Benz AMG GT 53 4-door Coupe comes in at a respectable 20 miles per gallon in the city and 25 miles per gallon on the highway. As for the wheels, this beauty comes with a 19-inch AMG with 10 spokes.

The back of the car is sloped, with a hatch for the trunk, which opens quickly and smoothly. Inside you get plenty of space.

From here you get a good look at the multistage active rear spoiler, which is electronically controlled. It deploys in five stages of angle and height based on your speed and the driving mode you pick, which is pretty special. From 0 to 50 miles per hour, it lies flush for a clean appearance. From 50 to 87 mph, it rises 2.5 inches to optimize drag and efficiency. Above 87 mph, it reaches 5.1 inches to optimize air resistance and stability. Additional settings, lower or higher, are engaged at certain speeds in Sport+ mode or when the computer detects highly dynamic driving.

On the inside, the AMG GT 4-door Coupe cockpit is a buffet for the eyes for everyone lucky enough to be in this 4-seater. The widescreen digital instrument panel and V-shaped console gives you ease of access to all the major tech including charging ports. The AMG performance steering wheel is hand-stitched in Nappa leather. It even has side grips that not only add detail, but also are sporty and feel good to the touch.

A view of the sky comes with the AMG GT 4-door Coupe. The tinted glass sunroof tilts up at the rear for ventilation, or slides open for a breezy view of the clouds. An express feature fully opens or closes the roof with a single touch, and a manual-sliding sunshade helps block out unwanted sunlight because we all know it can get too bright in South Florida.

Like with most high tech new cars, the AMG GT 53 4-door Coupe comes with all the safety features you would expect. But this Mercedes Benz is all about the styling and the power, which is leagues ahead of its competitors.
