Miami-Dade County Animal Services (Animal Services) continues its participation in the 10th annual Clear The Shelters campaign, a nationwide pet adoption and donation initiative organized by NBCUniversal Local.

This year’s event, which began Aug. 10 and continues until Sept. 10, marks a decade of dedicated efforts to find loving homes for pets and support animal shelters across the country.

Clear The Shelters has been instrumental in connecting vulnerable animals with caring families, surpassing 1 million adoptions in 2023 and continuing its mission to promote pet adoption. The 2024 campaign promises to be the most impactful yet, celebrating ten years of success and community engagement.

“We are incredibly proud to be part of Clear The Shelters for its 10th anniversary,” said Annette Jose, director of Animal Services. “This initiative has made a profound difference in the lives of countless animals and the communities that support them. Our team is excited to contribute to this milestone year and help even more pets find their forever homes.”

Animal Services is hosting a series of special events and activities through the month-long campaign to encourage pet adoptions and raise awareness about the importance of animal welfare.

In addition to in-person events, virtual pet adoptions will be available through the WeRescue platform. WeRescue is a user-friendly mobile app that allows potential adopters to search for adoptable pets, submit applications, and communicate directly with shelters from the convenience of their smartphones, making the adoption process more accessible and efficient.

The 2024 Clear The Shelters campaign is supported by national sponsor Hill’s Pet Nutrition for the seventh consecutive year, ensuring that the initiative continues to grow and thrive. With over 150 NBC and Telemundo stations partnering with more than 1,400 shelters and rescues across the nation, Clear The Shelters continues to make a significant impact on pet adoption.
