Artistry in Rhythm Dance Conference 2023 coming to MDC Kendall CampusThe Miami Dade College Department of Performing Art and Industries Kendall Campus Dance program presents the Artistry in Rhythm Dance Conference 2023, Balancing Tradition, Apr. 20-22.

Balancing Tradition is a synthesized historical, cultural, and philosophical experience that explores dance, music, visual arts, and the aesthetic of a global narrative that grounds and expands the innovative practices of art making.

A.I.R. Dance conference addresses generational pathways and bridging gaps between undergraduate, graduate, and professional artistry. AIR Dance 2023, intentionally centers intergenerational shared learning and mentorship. The aim is to create environments that spark growth and develop relationships in a multi-capacity hub for innovation, rigor, abundance, and longevity.

Each year professors, dance educators, and professional dance artists are invited to participate in AIR Dance. During the conference there are master dance classes, lecture/demonstrations, roundtable panel discussions, performances, and student presentations. The conference is attended by MDC (Miami Dade College) students, faculty, Miami-Dade County high school, and community members.

AIR Dance Conference is $75 per participant for a three-day immersive dance experience.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore Hip-hop, Contemporary Modern Dance, Dance Composition, Contemporary Ballet, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Cuban, Traditional West African Dance, Drumming Classes, Salsa, Kemetic Yoga, Jazz Dance, Umfundali Technique and Site-Specific movement integration. Guest artists include A’Keitha Carey, Hattie Mae Williams, Jennifer Rivera, Joshua Archibald (Butterfly God), Trent Williams, Marisol Blanco, Michelle Grant-Murray, Augusto Soledade, Kemal Nance, and Christina Leyva.

Dates of the conference are: Thursday, Apr. 20, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.;
Friday, Apr. 21, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., and
Saturday, Apr. 22, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Conference rates/fees are; $75, full conference; $25, daily rate, and $10, single class.
