Litigation and Business attorney Rachel A. Camber, Of Counsel with the law firm of Markowitz Ringel Trusty + Hartog, has been elected president of the Dave & Mary Alper Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Kendall.

The Alper JCC’s mission is to preserve and strengthen the community by providing programs and services that are rooted in and promote Jewish values, ethics and traditions. The Alper JCC provides educational, cultural arts and fitness programming for the community, as well as a broad range of services to persons with special needs and the elderly.

Camber’s involvement with the organization dates back to 2009 when she joined the Alper JCC Board of Directors. Since then, she has served on the Executive Committee, as treasurer, first vice president and president-elect.

Earkier this year, she was the co-chair of the highly successful JCC Maccabi Games & ArtsFest, an Olympic-style sports competition conducted Aug. 6-11, which attracted approximately 3,000 teens and their families, plus spectators to the area from across the U.S., Israel, Canada and Mexico.

Camber has a diverse practice in both transactional and litigation matters to prevent, negotiate, settle and litigate disputes. She represents corporations and individuals in contract disputes, commercial litigation, creditors’ rights issues, leasing issues, bond claims, construction lien law issues, tax lien sale issues, banking litigation, real property litigation, and general corporate matters. Her transactional practice includes drafting corporate documents including stock purchase agreements, partnership agreements, commercial lease agreements, and commercial loan documentation.

Active in the community, Camber currently is a member of the board of directors of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, and a supporter of cultural arts. She also is a member of the Florida Association of Women Lawyers and South Miami Kendall Bar Association.

Camber is a member the Arts, Entertainment and Sports Law Section and the Real Property Trust and Estates Section of The Florida Bar, and is admitted to practice in Florida and the District of Columbia. She received her Juris Doctorate from Washington University in St. Louis and her BA from Tulane University.
