The Emmy and Gold Medal-winning South Florida Youth Symphony (SFYSmusic.org), one of the nation’s leading youth music organizations, will perform a holiday concert, ‘Holiday Favorites Old and New”, December 15, at the William Lehman Theater, 11380 NW 27th avenue on the Miami Dade College North Campus.
The concert, part of the SFYS’ 60th Anniversary Celebration, begins at 4 p.m. followed by a cookie reception.
“This concert is definitely a fun, family-oriented event,” said SFYS Executive and Music Director Marjorie Hahn. “As the name implies, the musical selection will feature many holiday season favorites the entire family can enjoy.”
The SFYS has performed world-wide over the last six decades. In recent years, they’ve won a Gold Medal at the prestigious Heritage Music Festival in Washington, D.C., performed at Carnegie Hall three times and captured Gold at the Young Bohemia Music Festival in Prague, Czech Republic. Most recently the SFYS had a highly successful three city tour of Italy and an exchange concert in Panama.
The SFYS program is sponsored with the support of Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, Miami-Dade County Mayor and County Commissioners, The Children’s Trust, Miami-Dade County Office of Management and Budget, State of Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, The Kirk Foundation, the Knight Foundation, Publix Charities, and Nancy Friday Foundation.
Tickets for the concert are $15, and can be purchased on the website, SFYSmusic.org, https://sfysmusic.org/event/old-and-new-holiday-favorites-concert/
