Miami’s favorite Latin bar, Baru, with locations in Brickell and Doral, has opened in Kendall with its biggest space yet. The 5,500-square-foot lounge which opened in mid-March provides the Kendall area with a much-needed spot to dance and have a fiesta all night long.
Hospitality veteran Hector Antunez, owner of Baru Latin Bar, has been sharing his Latin roots all over Miami by expanding its lively concept. With the limited nightlife in Kendall, Antunez aims to spice it up and bring the Latin American vibes and beats Miami has come to know and love from his other locations right to every Kendall resident’s backyard.
“When I was little, I use to go to Town & Country Kendall every summer on vacation to shop with my family,” Antunez said. “So opening a Baru there really hits home. It’s like I’m giving Kendall something in return for the memories it gave me.”
Baru in Kendall resembles the other locations in Brickell and Doral, but will be the best and biggest space yet. Designed by Colombian interior designer Andrea Mejia, it welcomes guests as they enter with moss-covered hot pink walls, bright lights, and a neon sign in Spanish at each entrance translating to “Whatever My Queen Wants!,” “Here You Only Have A Good Time” and “It Was Only The Vibe.”
Upon entering, guests can make their way throughout the vibrant atmosphere to one of the three massive bars for cocktails, a table to indulge in delicious bites from the Latin-inspired menu, or to either of the two terraces for dancing the night away or lounging with a gorgeous lake-side view.
The reputable brand will be Kendall’s go-to neighborhood bar, one for which the area and its residents have been longing. The new location will be serving affordable and mouth-watering cocktails curated by the award-winning group of bartenders, The Cocktail Cooperative, to fuel everyone’s energy at a lower price than the other Baru locations. Baru has partnered with these notable bartenders from the Cocktail Cooperative, including Sarah Porter who has worked with Antunez at all Baru locations, to enhance its beverage program and provide guests with something new.
The Cocktail Cooperative has created Baru’s new signature drink that will be available across all Baru locations — a giant $12 mojito made with their own homemade mixtures that’s guaranteed to be the best in town. The mojito will be served in a tall container with a green illuminating straw for a big and fun presentation. And with three bars, Baru will carry hundreds of liquor brands from which to choose. So whether it’s a classic vodka tonic, Baru’s signature mojito, or anything in between, you’re sure to get the best of the best at a great price. It’s just up to you to pick your poison.
Baru Kendall l also wilhave the very first “ventanita” in Miami, but instead of serving cafecito and coladas, the window will be open for guests to order drinks and cocktails.
“This is our biggest location yet, and we’re so excited to have everyone experience it with us,” Antunez said.
