Belen Jesuit Preparatory School Golden Jubilee Cultural Series Concert featuring Internationally Renowned Pianist, Benjamin Grosvenor

MIAMI- Making his Miami debut as the first stop on his United States tour British pianist Benjamin Grosvenor  will perform as part of the Golden Jubilee Cultural Series at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School http://www.belenjesuit.org/  on Thursday, March 1 at 8 p.m.

“This young man has already accomplished such wonderful accolades and we are overjoyed to have him meet our student and perform for our community,” said Jesuit Father Pedro Suárez, President of the school.

Nineteen-year-old Grosvenor first came to prominence as the outstanding winner of the Keyboard Final of the 2004 BBC Young Musician Competition at the age of eleven. Since then, Benjamin has become an internationally regarded pianist performing concerts with orchestras including the London Philharmonic, Tokyo Symphony, and Brazilian Symphony in venues such as the Royal Festival Hall, Barbican, Muza Kawasaki and Carnegie Hall (at the age of thirteen).

This concert is cosponsored by Steinway & Sons Miami in association with the Friends of Chamber Music. Ticket prices are $25, $35 and $55 and include a VIP Artists Reception following the concert in the Saladrigas Gallery (adjacent to the Roca Theatre). All events in the Cultural Series will take place in the Roca Theatre located in the Belen campus. Net proceeds from the Cultural Series will benefit the Belen Scholarship Program. Every year the scholarship fund provides financial aid to over 300 students; distributing in excess of $1.8 million annually.

The Jesuits founded Belen Jesuit Preparatory School http://www.belenjesuit.org/  in 1854 in Havana, Cuba.  In 1961, when Belen and all private schools were confiscated by the new political regime, the school was re-established in Miami that same year and has grown over the last five decades.  Currently the enrollment is nearly 1,500 male students in grades 6 to 12 and over six thousand alumni.
