Since 2020, the Belen Jesuit Preparatory School Wolverine Village has been bringing Christmas cheer to children with special needs. What began during COVID as a way to give back to the community has become a much-loved annual tradition.
“I thought it was truly an incredible experience being able to connect with my community and bring the Christmas joy to these students,” said Jonathan Fuentes(Class of ’25), Student Council president. “Doing this with my Belen brothers made it even more special.
As a senior, every moment from now to graduation is treasured and this is something I won’t ever forget.”
On Dec. 10, members of the class of 2025 hosted the special event for children from Great Heights Academy, the Wow Center and Our Pride Academy. The seniors dressed festively and distributed candy, toys and games in the Arroyo Quad (school courtyard). The fun included “snow” and pictures with Santa.
“Each year, our students kick it up a level,” said Teresita Gonzalez, Christian Service coordinator. “Watching them interact with such love and kindness with children who have special needs and demonstrate patience and compassion is truly seeing God at work. This is what it’s all about and the best part of Belen in action.”
