A Miami native, Spiegelman has more than 18 years of corporate and non-profit fundraising experience.
Prior to her joining the Cancer Support Community, Spiegelman was the development director for Temple Beth Am in Pinecrest from 2007 to this July. As the Yulman Campus development director, she partnered with lay leadership to secure close to $3 million in donations by creating and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program for the synagogue, day and religious schools and auxiliary fundraising factions.
Spiegelman’s responsibilities included personal and corporate solicitations comprised of Named Fund giving opportunities; the Home for Our Heritage Capital and Endowment Campaign; all major fundraising special events; grant applications; direct mail; in-kind donations, and special projects such as campus dedication events and permanent donor recognition programs.
As marketing director for The Falls shopping center from 1999 through 2007, Spiegelman developed and implemented a research-based strategic marketing and business plan driving increased center sales and traffic while positioning The Falls as a corporate citizen. She was responsible for all marketing, advertising, local branding, public relations, corporate and promotional partnerships, center special events and Web-based marketing.
Spiegelman came to The Falls from the University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center where she served as director of special events for three years. In that role, she was responsible for an integrated special event/fundraising program with an annual goal of $2 million via UM/Sylvester projects and contributions through five umbrella organizations.
Prior to UM/Sylvester, she worked as the national regional accounts manager and as the sales manager at Elegant Bride magazine. Her advertising sales experience began as an account executive responsible for travel and tourism accounts at Herb Weiner Associates for publications such as GQ, Glamour, National Geographic Traveler and Golf for Women.
Actively involved in charitable work, Spiegelman has served as a board member and/or committee chair for the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, Women’s Division for Southwest Dade; UM/Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center; Children’s Home Society; Miami Children’s Hospital, and Hadassah of Greater Miami, Chavarot Chapter.
“We are thrilled to welcome Danielle,” said Pam Zakheim, founder of the Cancer Support Community Greater Miami. “She has already impressed our staff and board of directors with her professionalism, resourcefulness, creativity and management skills.
“The depth and breadth of experience that she brings to our organization is exceptional and enthusiastically welcomed by all. Her joining us as we launch our next phase of development marked by our name change is perfect timing. We look forward to a long and happy relationship,” Zakheim added.
Spiegelman holds a Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the University of Florida. She lives in Miami with her husband, Marc, and children — Logan, 8; Austin, 6, and Ethan, 4.
