The Consulate General of Mexico in Miami welcomes all Mexicans and friends of Mexico to join in celebrating the 208th anniversary of Mexico’s Independence Day in a family atmosphere full of colors, lights, and flavors. This year, the commemoration will take place on Saturday, Sept. 15, 5-10 p.m., at Miami Dade College’s Kendall Campus, 11011 SW 104 St.
There will be a variety of typical Mexican dishes, traditional music and dances. There will also be games, contests and raffles for trips to Mexico. The Mariachi Academy of Homestead will offer a very special performance in honor of the celebration, with the support of the Mexican American Council (MAC).
The Consul General of Mexico, Horacio Saavedra, will be present, sharing a few words on the success of the collaborative efforts towards education among the community. The event will include with the civic act known as “Grito de Independencia,” that reminisces the beginning of Mexico’s War of Independence.
