United Way Miami, one of the leading and longest-standing non-profits in South Florida, recently launched its 2024-25 annual community campaign, We’re HERE.

The annual community campaign aims to engage corporate partners and their employees, as well as the public, and invite them to contribute to United Way Miami’s mission of improving the quality of life for all, by bringing together people and resources committed to building a better community. The organization also is introducing a renewed focus and refreshed brand highlighting the Core Four pillars — Health & Wellbeing, Education, Resilient Communities and Economic Mobility: HERE.

“Today we are launching our most ambitious community campaign to date. Half a million households are in, or just one paycheck away from, poverty and with these numbers ever rising, it is United Way’s mission to connect people who need help with people who can help,” said Symeria Hudson, president and CEO of United Way Miami. “What drives us forward every day are the stories of how our work has positively impacted more than 187,000 individuals annually.”

To address these growing needs, United Way Miami invests in more than 100 programs through more than 60 partner agencies and leads 17 additional initiatives throughout Miami-Dade. Below is a glimpse of how the Core Four elevates lives and the impact United Way Miami has made this past year:
Health & Wellbeing

Initiatives and partnerships offer healthy lifestyles, mental health support, family counseling, Rx discounts and more.

• 43,426 individuals accessed health and wellness services

• 18,378 mental health counseling sessions provided

Education

• 7,176 young children received quality early education

• 6,800 students received school-aged education resources needed for success
Resilient Communities

Working with partners on issues that impact the whole community, from disaster recovery to drowning prevention for young children to connecting thousands of callers to services.

• 76,000 211 calls were answered by compassionate staff

• $100 million-plus raised in disaster relief efforts for 20-plus hurricanes, floods, earthquakes and emergencies in 20-plus years

Economic Mobility
Partnering with local organizations to provide skill building, veteran job training, housing assistance, tax prep, financial coaching, student loan help and more.

• 107,919 individuals served in financial stability

• 16,314 individuals received emergency shelter and food assistance

United Way Miami’s impact is made possible with the ongoing support of our annual community campaign supporters and partners. Leading the charge this year is Felipe Basulto, South Florida Market president at TD Bank, returning as campaign co-chair, and Madeline Pumariega, president of Miami Dade College. These exceptional leaders will leverage their expertise in business, education, and advocacy to unite our community and uplift those in need.

The campaign chairs, supported by an esteemed volunteer cabinet of local business and community leaders, are joined by United Way Miami’s Giving Communities chairs and co-chairs, whose collective fundraising efforts will help individuals and families through the Core Four pillars.

The campaign cabinet includes:
