In honor of Women’s History Month, a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture and society, ChamberSOUTH hosted the Honorable Daniella Levine Cava, Miami Dade County’s first female Mayor, as guest speaker on March 16th, 2022. In addition to a fireside chat between Mayor Cava and ChamberSOUTH President and CEO, Brittnie Bassant, event attendees were also introduced to 15 amazing women CEOS and leaders who have risen to the top of their fields. Guests also had the opportunity to network with over 150 ChamberSOUTH members, business owners, community leaders, and elected officials as Mayor Cava spoke on her experience being the first female Mayor and the challenges that she’s not only faced, but overcome, all while bringing a different level compassion to the role as a female Mayor.
Elected in November 2020 as the first female Mayor of Miami Dade County, the Honorable Daniella Levine Cava came to political office after having served as an advocate for South Florida families for over 30 years. She served special needs children, low-income families, and immigrants at Legal Services of Greater Miami, and then represented children in foster care and adoption system as Acting, Associate and Legal Director for the Guardian Ad Litem Program before founding Catalyst Miami in 1996 to help low- and middle-income families through service, education, and advocacy.
“It was an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to not only host Mayor Cava as our featured speaker but moderate an intimate fireside chat that really showed how down-to-earth and connected Mayor Cava is to our community,” said Brittnie Bassant, President and CEO of ChamberSOUTH. “As a woman CEO myself, she’s someone that I look up to as a source of inspiration and a role model on how to lead from the heart,” continued Bassant.
ChamberSOUTH would like to thank our luncheon series sponsor, Florida Power & Light, our presenting sponsor, Miami Dade County Youth Fair and Exposition and our gold sponsors, Baptist Health South Florida and Community Health of South Florida.
