Comcast has opened a new Xfinity store in Kendall and to commemorate the occasion, Comcast made a $10,000 donation to a local nonprofit organization invited to the grand opening ceremony. Michelle Oyola McGovern, the company’s VP of Government & Regulatory Affairs in Florida, kicked off the event by presenting the check to the WOW Center, which has been a partner of the tech leader for several years in this community. The WOW Center facilitates and supports multidisciplinary programs that empower individuals with disabilities to make personal decisions that promote growth and independence.
Executive Director Arlene Peterson and Board Vice President Alejandro M. Jerez accepted Comcast’s contribution on behalf of the WOW Center. They emphasized the importance of these alliances, highlighting that they are vital to building a more inclusive and supportive community. Jerez added that he sees firsthand how the WOW Center supports people living with disabilities, like his own brother.
Comcast’s donation is very opportune. The WOW Center will be opening a new and larger center next month to serve even more Miami-Dade County residents with disabilities.
“We are incredibly grateful to Comcast for their generous support and commitment to our mission at the WOW Center,” said Peterson. “This $10,000 contribution will directly impact the programs and services that empower individuals with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential.”
Executive director of ChamberSOUTH, Ricardo Alberty, was also in attendance. Alberty presented a special proclamation to Comcast for their contribution to the local economy and providing access to technology for community development.
The one-stop shop is located in Kendale Lakes Plaza at 14083 SW 88th Street, Suite 22. It will offer Xfinity’s mobile services, fast and reliable internet, home security, and entertainment. Jayson Velez is the general manager.
“We value our customers’ business as much as their time, so we are very proud that Xfinity now has added presence in this neighborhood,” said Oyola McGovern. “What truly makes this store special isn’t just the services we provide; it’s the opportunity to connect with our customers on a personal level. Our knowledgeable team is here to help you explore, understand, and customize the solutions that work best for you and your family… and in your language.”
