The Christopher Columbus High School soccer team was honored at the March 4 County Commission meeting for winning the 2014 state championship.

Miami-Dade County District 10 Commissioner Javier D. Souto, along with Mayor Carlos Gimenez and the Board of County Commissioners, presented the team and its coach a proclamation declaring March 4, 2014 as “Christopher Columbus High School 2014 State Champions Class 5A Soccer League Day” in recognition of the team’s achievement.

Despite being considered underdogs, the team rallied to capture the championship by defeating the top-ranked Boca Raton team. “This fine team demonstrated its tenacity by playing from the heart, and the entire community is very proud of them,” Commissioner Souto said. Christopher Columbus High School is located in District 10.
