Veteran Miami-Dade County Communicator Griselle Marino recently received two important distinctions from Florida International University (FIU) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
FIU’s School of Journalism featured Marino as a notable alumna in its Alumni Spotlights, highlighting her Emmy awards, prominent interviews with world leaders and a “storied career which has landed her jobs in TV news and media relations for various Miami-Dade County departments and commissioners.”
FEMA offered her a two-year appointment as a Media Relations Reservist in the External Affairs cadre, where she will be responsible for interacting with media stakeholders as an agency spokesperson providing messaging to the public.
Marino served as Assistant Director of the Office of the Chair’s Media Division during the term of then Chairman Dennis C. Moss.
“Throughout the years, Griselle has consistently demonstrated excellence in performing her duties, and I congratulate her on these two distinctions,” Commissioner Moss said. “Griselle’s ability to remain calm during a crisis in unparalleled.”
Marino was hired as Public Information Officer at Miami International Airport in 2004, worked four years as the Public Affairs Manager for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and the Office of Emergency Management, and six years for the Office of the Chair’s Media Division, where she worked her way up from Communications Specialist to Director of Media. She currently works for the County’s Integrated Communications division.
“I am humbled by my alma mater’s recognition, and I look forward to serving in FEMA’s External Affairs cadre,” said Marino. “As a civilian communications professional, nothing will make me happier than to serve my country in time of need.”
