Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami Beach are hosting the 15th Annual Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit, an event of the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact to exchange dialogue and ideas on expanding the region’s capacity to respond to climate challenges and build climate resilience.
The Summit is expected to convene hundreds of business, government, academia, and nonprofit leaders at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Nov. 16-17.
The Regional Compact is a partnership of Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Palm Beach counties, their municipalities and other partners, who have been working together since 2009 to develop policies that will enable the region to adapt to the impacts of Southeast Florida’s changing climate and to reduce its causes.
“Our region is not only at the forefront of the impacts of climate change, but we are also national leaders on climate solutions,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.
“We are very proud to be this year’s hosts of an important event that will mobilize the collaboration needed to tackle this significant challenge at scale.”
Under the theme “Transformative Climate Action,” the Summit provides a powerful and effective forum for facilitating collaborative knowledge sharing and dialogue at panel discussions and networking breaks.
Prominent speakers confirmed to attend the Summit include Miami- Mayor Levine Cava; Victoria Salinas, senior official performing the duties of deputy administrator at FEMA; Michael Connor, assistant secretary of the Army for Civil Works, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; Raul Moas, senior director at the Knight Foundation, and others including elected officials, representatives from local and federal government, innovators, scientists, and artists.
