Miami-Dade County Animal Services (Animal Services) received a $250,000 grant investment from Petco Love, a national nonprofit leading change for pets by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier.

The generous investment will underscore Animal Services’ lifesaving mission and support its numerous lifesaving programs and initiatives dedicated to ensuring the health and wellbeing of Miami-Dade County’s pets.

“Our investment in Miami-Dade County Animal Services is part of more than $15 million in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which all pets are safe and cared for in loving homes,” said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We recently launched Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database that uses patented image-recognition technology to simplify the search for lost pets,” Kogut added.

“Petco Love remains an invaluable and loyal partner. Thanks to this generous investment, we can continue to pursue our vision of becoming a comprehensive pet resource center where we can provide additional services to the community and make our county a better place for our beloved four-legged family members,” said Bronwyn Stanford, Animal Services director.

“We are proud of everything we have accomplished together and look forward to helping pet families get closer, stronger, and healthier,” Stanford added.

The Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department is a nationally recognized lifesaving agency that has achieved the industry benchmark of a 90 percent or more save rate every year since 2015. Reaching and maintaining this gold standard is a testament to the continued support of our pet loving community and elected officials, as well as the hard work of our dedicated staff and volunteers.

It is also evidence of the power of philanthropic partners, such as Petco Love. Funds from this grant will help the dedicated staff and volunteers at Animal Services carry out the department’s mission to protect animals from cruelty and lovingly care for lost pets.

Through this lifesaving impact award, Animal Services will place a special focus on helping to reunite lost pets with their families and support pets who may need extra help with medical and behavior issues.
