Dimelo305 and DCFCU Join Hands to Benefit Local Families

In joining hands to help their local community, two kind and giving local businesses are lending truth to the notion that positive-minded people attract other positive people. Kendall-based Dimelo305 and Dade County Federal Credit Union (DCFCU) have been working closely over the past few months, first with a successful Thanksgiving turkey giveaway for several hundred needy families in Miami Gardens.

And in December they united once again to host a Holiday Toy Drive – but with a twist. In addition to inviting credit union members and the general public to drop off toys at DCFCU branches county-wide, they took their “drive” into the streets of Miami – by personally picking up hundreds of toy donations at local businesses and residences all across the area.

According to Dimelo305 Co-Founder Ariel Pentzke, “We literally took our toy drive on the road this year and it really caught on as we collected dozens more gifts than we would have with our traditional drop-off program.” As he and his creative team traversed the town in their decked-out mobile-production truck, Dimelo305 was able to capture all the festive moments on video for social-media spots featuring sponsoring companies.

Donations of new and unwrapped toys were handed out Christmas week to Miami Gardens Elementary School, URGENT Inc. Creative Youth Development of Overtown, and to both locations of Touching Miami with Love Ministries in Homestead and Overtown.

Federica Chalumeau, DCFCU Senior Vice President of Operations and Sales, coordinated the drop-off program at DCFCU’s countywide branches including Miami Gardens, Kendall, Sweetwater, Government Center-Miami, Hialeah, Homestead, Jackson Memorial Hospital, and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital-Miami.

Birds of a Feather Working Together
The corporate giving season for these birds of a feather started in November when Dimelo305 and DCFCU flocked together to distribute 200 turkeys to thankful credit union members and non-members at DCFCU’s Miami Gardens branch at 20645 NW 2nd Ave. Contributing to the festive atmosphere, Dimelo305 was on hand to “pump up the volume” with live music, while their premier video production crew shot on-camera interviews for social media with the local families, friends, and staff that gathered onsite.

“The power of professionally produced video postings definitely make a difference,” added fellow Dimelo305 co-founder Gerson Sanchez. “That’s because the more that people tuned in to see what we were doing for the community via our promotional postings on Instagram and Facebook, the more people want to participate.”

The Important Business of Giving
While DCFCU’s stated mission is “To Deliver the Highest Level of Service by Providing Solutions to Your Financial Needs,” according to Chalumeau, this time of year she says “it’s also about going about the ‘important business’ of ensuring people are provided an opportunity to enjoy their holidays to the fullest.” In addition to savings, checking, loans, and credit cards, DCFCU offers a wide range of products and services at all local branches.

“At Dade County Federal Credit Union, our commitment to our people is unwavering.,” she added. “Year after year, they are our top priority. Be it giving away toys or turkeys, we are honored and pleased to participate in these annual traditions that serve as a small token of appreciation for the heart of our community.” DCFCU has been serving its members and their families since it is founding in 1939.

“By engaging in joint charitable efforts, we not only building stronger connections within our community, but also demonstrating the importance of being good corporate citizens,” added Sanchez, “especially during the holidays when people in need are in greater need than any other time of year. “When two like-minded organizations with shared values come together, it is a rewarding experience for everyone.”
