Educational Federal Credit Union (EdFed) awarded 15 Hubert O. Sibley 2 + 2 Florida Prepaid Tuition Scholarships to college-bound recipients at a special ceremony on Thursday, May 23, 2024.
The event, hosted by EdFed’s Board of Directors and President and CEO Michael DiBenedetto, honored the students for their achievements and allowed their parents and other loved ones to participate in the celebration.
“It was very moving to see the immensely positive impact that the scholarship will have on the lives of the recipients,” expressed President and CEO Michael DiBenedetto. “I am proud that EdFed can help these students make their educational dreams a reality,” DiBenedetto continued.
Recipient Damian Suarez shared with EdFed how the Hubert O. Sibley Scholarship will play a significant role in his journey to college. “This scholarship means that I can truly enjoy the next four years of my life, and I can do what I want to do without that fear, without that burden on me.” He added, “EdFed has shown me so much kindness.”
This year’s 2024 Hubert O. Sibley 2 + 2 Florida Prepaid Tuition Scholarship winning recipients are: Claude-Eric F. Andre, Coral Reef; Bryanna Elena Arrastia, Ransom Everglades; Ashley D. Bu Martinez, Barbara Goleman; Naika D. Cesar, William H. Turner Technical Arts; Donyelle J. Ferguson, Coral Reef; Naimur R. Fiha, School for Advance Studies—Homestead Campus; Manuel Alberto Gonzalez-Diaz, Miami Coral Park; Daniela Carolina Nieto, John A. Ferguson; Alejandro Perdomo, Miami Arts Studio 6-12 @ Zelda Glazer; Elizabeth Perdomo, Miami Arts Studio 6-12 @ Zelda Glazer; Karim Zane Spencer, Miami Lakes Educational Center; Damian Junior Suarez, Miami Arts Studio 6-12 @ Zelda Glazer; Isabella Vazquez, Coral Reef; Gabriella P. Vergara, Barbara Goleman; and Eric Alexander Villanueva, School for Advance Studies—West Campus.
Named in honor of the credit union’s former President and CEO Hubert O. Sibley, the scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who have held membership in EdFed for at least 12 months before the entry deadline.
The scholarship recipients were selected through a random drawing and were not required to meet specific academic criteria to apply.
