Educational Federal Credit Union (EdFed) is launching a new mobile branch to serve Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS). Staffed by high school student volunteers, the mobile branch will offer the ability for EdFed members to open accounts, conduct transactions, and participate in financial education activities on campus.

“We are excited to make this important investment in our partnership with Miami-Dade County Public Schools,” said EdFed President and CEO Mike DiBenedetto. “Our new mobile branch will help our student volunteers gain real-world professional experience while also learning the importance of saving and managing money with our financial education program.”

Through its Credit Union Professional & Educational Development Program (CUPED), EdFed provides on-site financial literacy workshops, mentoring opportunities, and promotional events at 12 senior high schools across Miami-Dade County.

“With the CUPED program, our students are gaining valuable experience that they can take with them after they graduate,” said Dr. Lupe Ferran Diaz, Executive Director of the Department of Career and Technical Education at M-DCPS. “EdFed is not only providing our students with job skills but with important life skills that they can apply throughout their lives.”

Dr. Jose L. Dotres, M-DCPS Superintendent, will appear at a special ribbon-cutting celebration at Miami Edison Senior High School on November 29, 2023, at 10 am to unveil EdFed’s mobile branch to M-DCPS administration, students, and staff.
