United HomeCare, on Oct. 22, hosted distinguished physician Dr. Lewis R. Elias and his wife, Deanna, for Gallery Night at The Residences of United HomeCare, the new assisted living residence for seniors in West Kendall.
They were joined by other Elias family members and friends as well as health professionals and administrators from adjacent West Kendall Baptist Hospital. Pastor Rob Myers and the senior leadership of nearby Miami Baptist Church also attended the reception.
Dr. Elias treated attendees to an entertaining recollection of a medical career spanning 55 years that included treating indigent coal miners in Appalachia to administering to the needs of Albert Einstein and President Richard Nixon
The evening also showcased the contemporary art on display at The Residences by Sergio Payares, Maximo Caminero and Miguel Dotres, three of six featured artists present to discuss their works during the 4- 7 p.m. reception.
The Residences, a four-story building with 122 studio and one bedroom units for senior living, is located adjacent to West Kendall Baptist Hospital at 9355 SW 158 Ave. For information, call 305-328-0875.
