FIU Theatre presents “Pride and Prejudice,” based on the Jane Austen novel, adapted by Jon Jory, and directed by Phillip M. Church, Associate Professor at the FIU Department of Theatre.
This tale of love and values unfolds in the class-conscious England of the early 19th century. It tells the story of the five Bennet sisters, who have been raised by their mother with one purpose in life: to find a husband. Life for the family is uneventful until a wealthy bachelor takes up residence on a nearby country estate. Amongst the man’s sophisticated circle of friends, surely there will be no shortage of suitors for these eligible sisters. Love is soon in the air, but many trials and tribulations stand between these sisters and their happiness, including class, gossip, scandal, and of course, pride and prejudice.
This production will open on Thursday, March 3 at 8:00 p.m. Additional shows will run until March 13, 2011, with Thursday through Saturday shows at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday shows at 2:00 p.m.
Performances will be held at the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center, Main Stage Theater, located inside the FIU Modesto A. Maidique Campus at 10910 SW 17 Street, Miami, FL 33199.
