Florida Finishes Day One of Stanford Intercollegiate

The Florida women’s golf team finished day one of the final fall tournament at the Stanford Intercollegiate on Friday.

The Gators bounced back after finishing 5-over on the back and made the turn to end even on the front with a score of 289. Florida was one of the first teams to tee off at Stanford Golf Course and sits in 13th through the first 18 holes. Host Stanford is the tournament leader at 8-under.

Chico, Calif. native, Jackie Lucena, led the Gators with a 1-under 71 to place T15. After two bogeys earlier on the front, she went par-birdie-birdie-par-birdie to conclude the round. The under-par round marked her third of the fall.

The duo of Maisie Filler and Annabell Fuller both carded a clean front nine en route to a score of 73 (+2). Fuller fired 12 consecutive pars, starting on 16. Taylor Roberts is also tied for 44th as she wrapped up her round strongly with two birdies and five pars in her last seven after a +3 on the back.

In her first fall outing, Marina Escobar went birdie on her second and eagle on her third holes to start the round. She was the fourth Gator to shoot a 73 (+2).

Competing as an individual Jenny Kim shot a 75 (+4) and is T71.

Florida tees off round two tomorrow at 3 p.m. ET.
