Florida PACE Centers was recognized recently by the Alliance for PACE Innovation and Quality (APIQ) as a Pioneer Navigator PACE organization under APIQ’s PACE Recognition Program.
The distinction spotlights Florida PACE Centers, Florida’s largest and most experienced Program of All-Inclusive Elderly Care (PACE) provider, for its dedication to advancing the PACE community by developing and implementing a performance measurement system that drives continuous improvement.
Pioneer Navigator recognition measures PACE organizations across four key domains:
People – Building a diverse, skilled, and supported workforce
Stewardship – Ensuring efficient, effective, and sustainable use of resources
Access – Expanding availability to meet community needs
Caring – Delivering person-centered care that enhances lives
“Helping South Floridians age with dignity and independence, Florida PACE Centers is committed to ensuring access to personalized healthcare and social services that are too often out of reach for those living on a fixed income,” said Steve Hess, president, Florida PACE Centers. “Being recognized by APIQ is a testament to hard work of our team and their unwavering commitment to serving the most vulnerable who deserve our compassion and support at the highest level.”
Serving more than 1,100 seniors across Miami-Dade and Broward counties, Florida PACE Centers provide a wide range of coordinated medical, social, and long-term care services to older adults who qualify for nursing home care but prefer to live independently in their own home. Under PACE, eligible participants receive a customized care plan from an interdisciplinary team that includes medical services – like primary care, specialist visits, physical therapy, and prescription medications – as well as supportive services like social activities, meals, and transportation.
Free to qualifying Medicaid members, PACE is a critical resource considering that 23 percent of Miami-Dade seniors live in poverty and the cost of living in Miami is 58 percent higher than the national average.
Hess added, “I’ve seen first-hand how South Florida seniors living with complex medical needs and limited financial resources have experienced a dramatic quality of life increase due to PACE. The growth of this model, with assistance from APIQ and the National PACE Association, can change the lives of so many.”
