Friends of Miami Animals Foundation (FoMA) has announced that Lynda Gordon, president and founder of The Gordon Alliance, has been elected to its board of directors.

After a career spanning more than two decades in the private sector, Gordon now dedicates her time and talents to helping others through The Gordon Alliance’s various philanthropic programs.

“Lynda has been a generous benefactor of FoMA as well as other academic and non-profit organizations in our county for years,” said Yolanda Berkowitz, founder and president of FoMA. “Her experience in business development, combined with her expertise, passion and dedication to making Miami a better place for all people and pets will be a tremendous asset to FoMA. We are beyond thrilled to welcome her to our board of directors.”

“I am honored to join the team of animal advocates behind FoMA and get to play a vital role in saving and improving the lives of Miami-Dade County’s homeless pets,” Gordon said.

Gordon has been an active volunteer and fundraiser for well-known institutions such as Miami Children’s Hospital, University of Miami Medical Faculty Association, and University of Miami Medical School Council. She is the co-founder of the Michael S. Gordon, MD, Charitable Foundation, and the founder of The Gordon Alliance, both of which honor the life and legacy of her late husband Michael S. Gordon, who is credited with revolutionizing medical education in South Florida through advanced simulation techniques.

Friends of Miami Animals Foundation Inc. (FoMA) is a 501(c)3 on a mission to save and improve the lives of homeless pets in Miami-Dade County by addressing the root issues of pet homelessness. Through activating the community, educating the public, and advocating for animal welfare within the public and private sector, FoMA seeks to alleviate the volume of homeless animals on the streets and within shelters.

FoMA also partners with boots-on-the-ground organizations such as Wings of Rescue, Humane Society of Greater Miami, Animal Haven, the ASPCA, and other no-kill shelters and rescue groups to provide funding, resources, and facilitate collaboration.
