On Saturday & Sunday, February 16 & 17, 2013 radio control aerobatic pilots from all over the Southeast United States will gather to compete in one of the most exiting events of the year at the 2013 AMPS Aerobatics Challenge.
The pilots of these radio-controlled giant-scale model airplanes compete following the same rules and regulations as their full-size counterparts. Pilots are awarded points for precisely following a series of aerobatic maneuvers. The five competition classes range from Basic, which is oriented to entry level pilots, to Unlimited where you will see world-class pilots perform hair-raising aerial maneuvers. Most of the airplanes are exact replicas of modern aerobatic airplanes with wingspans over ten feet and sometimes exceeding $10,000 in value.
The public is invited to attend this free event where the whole family can enjoy a fun day of exiting competition while relaxing in South Florida’s warm winter climate. Food and prizes will be available both days. Competition is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday and from 9 AM to 2 PM on Sunday. A freestyle demonstration will be flown at 2 PM Sunday and the awards presentation will be at 3 PM.
A $3-per-car parking donation is requested – 100% of the proceeds going to Good Hope Equestrian Training Center, a 501 (c) (3) not for profit organization founded in 1999 with a mission of providing special needs populations with recreational, rehabilitative, educational and community-based training programs that offer opportunities to increase their independence and quality of life.
