2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR Convertible

The F-type, Jaguar’s first bona fide sports car, is arguably one of the top options in its class.

This year, the base F-Type has a reduced base price which, is now three grand below last year’s price, which allows it to be below average in price for its class — another competitive edge. Despite the price cut, the 2017 F-Type maintains its agility, top-of-the-line cabin and stunning good looks.

The designers at Jaguar crafted an exterior for the 2017 F-Type that would make any of its competition jealous. Without a doubt, this car can turn heads wherever it goes.

We were lucky enough to test drive the convertible model. Needless to say, driving with the top down is a great experience here in sunny South Florida.

As for speed and performance, the 2017 F-Type is propelled by either a 3.0-liter V-6 or a 5.0-liter V-8. The model we were able to test drive, the F-Type SVR convertible, is powered by the V-8 which puts out 575 horsepower. The 2017 F-Type SVR reaches top speeds of 200 mph and can race from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds. This model has an estimated fuel economy of 15 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.

While you can opt in for a six-speed manual transmission for the V6 model, an eight-speed automatic is standard with the V-8, as is all- wheel drive.

The 2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR does not focus too heavily on technology or safety features, providing only the necessities. These features include: anti-theft engine immobilizer, dynamic stability control, adaptive Xenon headlamps with LED Signature, fully electric convertible top, 14-way adjustable performance seats, 770W meridian sound system, touch-screen center console with navigation and parking sensors, rearview camera, blind spot monitoring and keyless entry.

The cabin may not be packed with tech features but its attractive design easily makes up for that. The F-type’s interior is simple, clean-lined and elegant with a heavy emphasis on ergonomics.

Created with the driver in mind, the cabin boasts clear instrumentation, easy to navigate controls and supportive racing seats. The F-Type also comes with various interior design options so that you can personalize it to your tastes — from seat design to hard top color.
However, the SVR comes with its own distinctive look. The cabin’s cockpit architecture remind you you are in a top-of-the-line sports car and, in true Jaguar fashion, the 2017 F-type is finished with only high-quality materials.

The 2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR is heavy competition for the luxury sports car class. Fast and refined, both in performance and appearance, the F-Type provides the full package. While it may not be the best option for those who are tech-focused, the F-Type makes up for whatever it lacks with agility and stunning good-looks. Better still, if you opt for the base model, you can get this sports car for much less than the competition.

The MSRP for the base 2017 Jaguar F-Type starts at $61,400, and the MSRP for the 2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR convertible is $132,283.
